OC Public Works

Within the recent downpour in California 2022-2023, a significant quantity of trash found its way into the Peters Canyon Creek. As a result, a location previously filled with vegetation & wildlife found itself surrounded in heaps of trash, clouding up water and forcing wildlife to move elsewhere. Eventually, much of the trash filters to the Newport Back Bay area which inflicts additional wildlife within the ocean. The Peters Canyon Creek is very close to our community and as a result, YFC contacted and successfully gained the collaboration of the OC Public Works to clean the area. The resulting change is drastic and we are glad that we were able to restore the wildlife to the Creek. Additionally, in the absence of the large quantities of trash and waste, the creek has been able to flourish.
